Blessing

May you be filled with loving kindness.
May you be well.
May you be peaceful and at ease.
May you be happy.

—ancient Tibetan Buddhist blessing

In the photo above, a Tibetan Buddhist monk constructs a sand mandala. A mandala is a circular design, usually composed of dyed sand particles. The construction of a mandala is a sacred ceremony for Buddhists. These ceremonies have been made available for public viewing only in recent years. Once a mandala is completed, it is dismantled. This act symbolizes the transience of life and the ideal of nonattchment to the material world.
