At the country house of my friend Leonor Fini, near Chambord Chateau in the Loire Valley of France, there were two Victorian female sphinxes in the garden. In this picture, taken by Richard Overstreet, Leonor’s cat Muzonka appears to be lovingly admired by one of the sculptures. I know Leonor admired Muzonka as she did all of her many feline friends.

Cat and Sphinx
